Artesia Park Junior High Curriculum

In keeping with our school motto, we provide a rigorous academic environment for our students. Because we have a wonderful staff dedicated to making sure our students succeed, we are also able to provide an exciting learning environment for our students. You can learn more about our curriculum below:

Core Classes

If a student is going to be promoted to ninth grade, he or she must pass four courses. Two of the four courses passed must be in the subjects of English, math, science, or history. Due to state statute, students in the eighth grade must repeat the grade if they do not pass three of the four solid classes. For more information about our core classes, please visit our district website.

Electives

Elective courses are those courses that fall outside of the main core academic subject areas (English, math, history, science, and foreign language). Each student must take a set amount of electives to be promoted. However, unlike the core classes, the student may choose his/her elective courses based on individual preference.

English as a Second Language

APJHS provides many activities to support our non-native English speaking students in improving their English language skills. If you would like to learn more information about our ESL program, please contact us.

Tutoring

AT APJHS, we understand that each student will learn at a different pace, which is why we offer before and after school tutoring to students who need extra practice. Please view our tutoring schedule for more information about our before/after school tutoring.

Mobile Computer Labs

It’s the 21st Century. At APJHS, we embrace technology, utilizing it to enhance our students’ learning experience. We teach them how to use technology for education purposes, ultimately influencing their decision to make better choices online.
